Hurricane Katrina...storm of the century?

Easily the most costly hurricane in U.S. history and possibly the deadliest, Katrina, has come and gone and left its damage. The effects were so widespread that my power here at Campus Creek was knocked out for nearly 24 hours and even power in Memphis was out in many spots most of the day today.

Damage on the coast is indescribable. The situation in New Orleans is only getting worse as the water continues to rise in the city. The pictures coming across the AP wire today show casinos that were lifted by the seas and carried across Highway 90 and sat down on top of existing hotels. Water has filled the streets of New Orleans and bodies have been seen floating along the surface. The loss of life in Mississippi is staggering. The death toll in New Orleans is uncountable at this point.

Here is just a small glimpse of what perhaps the worst hurricane in history left here in the town of Oxford...which is over five hours from the coast:
